Library Hours Explained

Monday

All faculty, staff, and commuter students who want swipe access to Wessels Library should take their ID to Dinah Hiller, Derrick Hall, Room 5, or Paul Whitman, Derrick Hall, Room 13, to be added to the swipe system.

Library Availability Details:

Regular Hours. 7:30 am – 7 pm, Mondays-Thursdays; 7:30 am – 4 pm, Fridays; and 3 pm – 8 pm, Sundays, all areas of the library will be open. Student workers and librarians or staff members will be available.
 

Student Manager Hours. Noon – 3 pm, Sundays; 7 pm-midnight, Sundays-Thursdays; 4 pm – 7 pm, Fridays:

  • The doors of the library will be locked.
  • You must use your Newberry College ID to swipe into the building.
  • Students are not permitted to open the doors for anyone not needing physical assistance with the door.
  • The front desk, the commons, the printer hallway, and the downstairs quiet area will be accessible.
  • Only reserve items will be available for check out.

Study Hours. From midnight - 2 am, Sundays-Thursdays; 7 pm - 10 pm on Fridays; and 11 am - 6 pm, Saturdays:

  • The doors of the library will be locked.
  • You must use your Newberry College ID to swipe into the building.
  • The commons, the printer hallway, and the downstairs quiet area will be accessible.
  • No library services will be available.
  • Students are not permitted to open the doors for anyone not needing physical assistance with the door.
  • Security will be present at closing time to make sure that all students leave the building.

Pro tips:

  • Always carry your Newberry College ID.
  • If you anticipate needing library services (such as checking out a book or DVD from the circulating collection, getting help with printing, asking a question of staff or student workers), please pay attention to the regular library hours. Reserve items are available during regular and student manager hours.
  • If students need assistance locating sources for a class assignment, they can use the link on the For Students tab to request an appointment with a librarian. Also, during the academic day, Mondays-Fridays, one can usually find a librarian by coming into the library. Plan ahead.
