Wessels Library - Welcome

Faculty-Library Collaboration

  • Encourage your students to seek research assistance from librarians. Students can request an appointment with a librarian.
  • Research Assignments:  Faculty are asked send copies of all assignments requiring research to Angie Rachels so that the library staff is better prepared to help your students.
  • Wessels Reservation:  When you and your class need space in the library, please contact Janice Hudson to request a specific date and time range. We are a small space where crowd management is sometimes a problem. Please do not use Wessels for classroom space if you do not need access to library materials.
  • Quiet Area:  The downstairs quiet area is not available for classes or meetings.
  • Librarian Assistance in the Library: If your class will need librarian assistance during a visit to Wessels, please contact Angie Rachels no later than a week in advance so that we can make sure a librarian is available and prepared. If you are coming to the library and need librarian instruction, please submit the Librarian Instruction Request at least two weeks in advance of the desired instruction date.
  • Librarian Instruction in Your Classroom: To request instruction from a librarian, submit the Librarian Instruction Request form at least  two weeks in advance of the desired instruction date.
  • Inter-Library Loan: Please search PASCAL before submitting an ILL request to Reid Austin.
  • Reserves: To place items on reserve, please read the reserves policiessubmit the Reserves Form, and deliver the item to the library at least 24 hours before the item needs to be available. Please remember that if you are using a non-traditional textbook in your class (e.g., a novel), then you should check the Wessels catalog to see if we own the book. If we do own the book, we strongly encourage you to place the library's copy on reserve so that it does not disappear from our collection.
  • Tutoring: To refer a student for tutoring, please complete and print the Instructor Referral for Tutoring form from the box on the left and send with the student to Carl Lominick at the library. He will place the student with the most appropriate tutor.
  • SCALE: South Carolina Affordable Learning, is an initiative of the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries (PASCAL) that weeks to reduce the overall cost of higher education for students by promoting the use of quality low-cost and no-cost learning materials.
