Things to Keep in Mind

Women's History Month is celebrated in March each year. The celebrations started with Women's History Week and were celebrated on a local scale in Santa Rosa, California. It was ensured that this week coincided with International Women's Day, which is celebrated March 8th. President Jimmy Carter gave official national recognition to the week. By 1987, the week-long celebration was expanded to a month-long one, with presidential proclamations starting in 1995 (Women's History Month | National Women's History Museum).
